The Summerland Landfill is expanding its operations following the Bald Range Wildfire. Please note the following changes
The landfill is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. for 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲.
🌿 Yard waste is being accepted, including:
• Trees and brush impacted by the wildfire, which will be placed in separate piles
🌲 𝐖𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄 – 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐒𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐑𝐄𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓
Wood waste must now be separated into two piles:
• 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝: Unpainted wood and pallets
• 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝: Painted or stained wood, plywood, pressboard and other wood containing glue
This requirement will be strictly enforced.
Separating clean and contaminated wood will improve diversion and help reduce the risks associated with managing wood waste and wood chips.
📅 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐘, 𝐒𝐄𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑 𝟐𝟏
The landfill will return to 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
All materials will be accepted, 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬.
Burnt materials and ash from fire-damaged structures will also be accepted by appointment starting Monday.
If you are bringing fire debris, please review the required information and paperwork before arriving. Some loads require specific documentation, and arriving unprepared may result in delays.

Please fill in required paper work and make necessary appointments before coming to the landfill to save time.
Tires will not be accepted at the Summerland Landfill when full operations resume Monday.
Residents can take unwanted tires to participating local tire dealerships that accept them free of charge through the 𝐁𝐂 𝐓𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 program. This provides a free recycling option, while tire disposal at the landfill is subject to a fee.

We expect increased traffic and higher volumes of waste as landfill operations expand. Please allow extra time for your visit and be patient with landfill staff as they work to safely manage incoming materials.
