Where Do I Take Household Hazardous Waste?
The District of Summerland has a Household Hazardous Waste collection depot at the Summerland Sanitary Landfill. The Landfill accepts all Household Hazardous Waste free of charge from residents living in the District of Summerland and Electoral Area F.
Please note that the Household Hazardous Waste Depot does not accept any waste from commercial, industrial, and institutional businesses or materials in commercial sized containers such as industrial sized paint cans or large metal drums.
How Do I Know Whether My Material Is Household Hazardous Waste?
Household Hazardous Wastes consist of products that can harm people, animals and the environment if they are disposed of improperly.These products can be poisonous, corrosive, explosive, flammable and can be linked to cancer or other health issues. Items identified as Household Hazardous Waste should be treated carefully and brought safely to the Summerland Sanitary Landfill Household Hazardous Waste Depot.
