Bylaw Complaint

The District of Summerland relies on residents to let us know about possible bylaw violations. Our goal is voluntary compliance: Bylaw Services works with residents, businesses and visitors through respectful dialogue and education, and takes enforcement action only when needed.

Anonymous complaints will not be investigated.

How to report

Online: complete the online complaint form below. You can attach a photo or document (up to 10 MB).
By email: send your complaint, or the completed complaint form, to bylaw@summerland.ca.
In person or by mail: print the complaint form and return it to Municipal Hall, 13211 Henry Avenue, Box 159, Summerland, BCV0H 1Z0.

What happens next

The District investigates bylaw violations on a complaint basis but has no duty to take enforcement action with respect to every contravention of a bylaw. Investigation and enforcement priority may be given to alleged contraventions that adversely affect the health, safety and security of the public, adversely affect the environment, or possibly result in increased liability exposure for the District.
