Emergency Response

The District of Summerland works in coordination with regional, provincial, and federal agencies to plan for and respond to emergency situations such as floods and wildfires. Listed below are links to pages dedicated to current and previous emergency events in Summerland, as well as some helpful resources for the public when planning for or dealing with emergency situations.

If losses are encountered due to flooding, you may be eligible for assistance through the Disaster Financial Assistance program.

If evacuated from your home, call Emergency Support Services at 250-490-7359 for assistance.

Previous Events

Disaster Financial Assistance

Following a disaster, the provincial government may declare the event eligible for Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA). Once declared, the DFA program may compensate individuals for essential uninsurable losses and/or reimburse local governments for damaged infrastructure.
