A sudden, localized wind event occurred at Peach Orchard Park at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, knocking down one tree and damaging two others. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
We know the sudden change in conditions was unsettling for those enjoying the beach at the time, and we’re grateful everyone remained safe.
District staff responded quickly, cleared the beach, and removed debris from the pathways. The remaining tree has been secured and flagged off until it can be safely removed. The affected trees will also be replaced in suitable locations nearby.
