Effective 𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟏𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 and until further notice, campfires are prohibited within the District of Summerland.
This ban is in place to protect public safety and reduce the risk of person-caused wildfires.
Due to extreme temperatures, dry conditions, and high to extreme fire danger ratings, the campfire ban will remain in effect until further notice.
This ban does not apply to CSA-rated or ULC-rated stoves, barbeques, or portable campfire rings using gas, propane, or briquettes.

Anyone found in contravention of the ban may receive a ticket up to $2,000. If the contravention results in a wildfire, the individual may also be held responsible for all firefighting and associated costs.
