The District of Summerland has submitted a formal response to the Ministry of Mining and Critical Minerals regarding the reconsideration of Mines Act Permit G-100000442 for the proposed Garnet Valley Road Pit.

The response, authorized unanimously by Council at its May 26, 2026 meeting, recommends refusal of the permit and raises concerns related to environmental sensitivity, landslide risk, zoning non-compliance, and the need for meaningful public engagement in the reconsideration process.
