The District of Summerland is partially reopening more of the Summerland Landfill starting Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
At this time, the following materials can be accepted:

Residential recycling, including paper, packaging, small electronics, batteries and alarms

Refrigeration units

Garbage bags or waste that can be placed by hand in Waste Transfer Bins

Mattresses and box springs

Commercial cardboard
Paint, residential pesticides, flammable household materials and used oil
The following items are NOT accepted:

Large volumes of garbage or garbage in dump trailers — these must be taken to Campbell Mountain Landfill in Penticton

Asbestos or ash materials

Metal

Tires

Concrete or asphalt

Yard waste
Wood waste
