The Summerland Landfill is presently out of Class A compost made from food scraps and yard waste. Food scraps compost has been incredibly popular and sold to groups across the Okanagan. More is being processed and will be ready closer to May.
Class A compost from local biosolids is available. The Summerland Landfill also sells ‘top dressing’ made from 50% Class A compost and 50% sandy soil. Both products can be loaded into trucks and trailers from 9 am to noon on weekdays.
An area has been set up to allow customers to self-load compost when the Landfill is open. Please bring your own shovel. The cost for compost and top dressing is found in the District of Summerland’s Fees and Charges bylaw.
The Summerland Landfill is open Monday to Saturday from 8:30 am to 4:15 pm and closed on Sundays, statutory holidays and Boxing Day.
