We extend our sincere thanks to Members of Council for participating in a site visit to the Wharton Street Revitalization Project this Wednesday, August 27. Their visit provided an important opportunity to observe the significant progress being made on this key community infrastructure project. Crews are making steady progress on stormwater, water, road, and electrical upgrades, and the project is well underway.

𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞:
• Completion of stormwater and water system upgrades on Victoria Road North, including the installation of a new storm pipe and water main
• Electrical upgrades on Victoria Road North are nearly complete
• Paver installation is in progress on the north side of Wharton Street
• Preparation for new curbing on Victoria Road North is underway
• Landscaping work along Wharton Street will begin soon
With these improvements taking shape, we are beginning to see a glimpse of what the revitalized area will look like — and it’s exciting to watch the transformation unfold!

During construction, crews also replaced a section of the community’s original water main from 1938. The photo shows the old pipe, highlighting just how necessary this replacement was to ensure the continued safety and reliability of Summerland’s water infrastructure.
We sincerely thank downtown businesses, residents, and visitors for their patience and cooperation as we complete this important revitalization work.
