Proactive Wildfire Prevention in Action

You may notice Summerland Fire Rescue crews working in rural areas over the coming days — cutting down tall grasses, brushing out overgrowth, and applying protective treatments to utility poles and surrounding areas.

This is part of our 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 — a proactive effort to reduce wildfire risk around key infrastructure and ensure community safety during wildfire season.

✅We’re also applying a fire retardant treatment to select utility poles in high-risk areas.

This product is:
• Non-toxic
• Environmentally safe

• Designed to slow the spread of wildfire

It’s the same type of product used in wildfire prevention across North America and is safe for wildlife, pets, and plants when used as directed.

We appreciate your support as we continue this important work to protect our community. If you see our crews out and about, give them a wave 👋— and please stay clear of active work zones for everyone’s safety.

Stay safe and fire smart, Summerland!
