On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 7:00 PM, the Summerland Fire Department, in collaboration with BC Wildfire Service, successfully conducted a planned burn exercise to simulate forest fire tactics and training, near the Summerland Rodeo Grounds.
The training involved 2 trucks from BC Wildfire and 4 trucks from the Summerland Fire Department. Two small controlled burns were carried out, each approximately 10x10 feet, with visible smoke in the area.
All personnel from the Summerland Fire Department were on-site to ensure the operation was conducted safely and effectively.
