mysummerland.ca is a one stop shop to display any and all Art and Cultural events within Summerland. This Calendar has been produced and is managed by the Summerland Arts and Cultural Coalition. The Coalition is comprised of The Art Center, The Museum, The Ornamental Gardens, KVR, Agar Lake and The Ryga Festival. If your organization fits the profile and you’d like to join the Coalition, let us know via our web-Calendar.

The mandate of the Coalition is to better connect Arts and Culture to our community. Coalition members navigate the myriad of challenges while we uncover and share all best practise approaches as we “Share, Learn and Grow” our respective organizations.

In the mean-time, enjoy our handy reference to interesting events in and around our community.

Summerland Arts Council

Summerland has a vibrant arts and cultural presence. One of the organizations involved in the arts is the Summerland Arts Council. They have many programs in the community including the popular Street Banner Project.

Summerland Musicians

Summerland is fortunate to have many accomplished musicians living in our community. Some are quite famous however all are very talented. These musicians add to the fabric of our community and can often be heard entertaining at local community events.

Summerland Potters Guild

Summerland has an active group of potters. For more information click here.

Summerland Singers and Players

This theatre group has been performing for over 100 years. They began by staging Gilbert & Sullivan plays however these ambitious performances required casts of 40 and a full pit orchestra. This group is still very active in our community. Click here for more details.

The Ryga Festival

The Ryga Festival is an annual arts festival, including music, theatre, spoken word, readings and workshops. The Festival fosters local creativity and is inspired by Summerland resident George Ryga (1932-1987), one of Canada's greatest writers. Ryga wrote "The Ecstasy of Rita Joe”, the best selling Canadian play of all time.
