Summerland Off-Leash Dog Park – Phase 3
District staff engaged Outland Site Design to provide concept design options for a fenced off-leash dog park at Dale Meadows Sports Complex. The Council Report, presentation slides, design drawings, construction cost estimates, and correspondence received are available through the links in the August 9, 2021 Council Agenda (Item 7.3) available here.
At this August 9, 2021 Council Meeting, Council made the following resolution R(a)-2021-176:
THAT staff move forward with Option 3 at the Dale Meadows location on a temporary ‘pilot’ basis, with the purchase and installation of temporary fencing; AND THAT staff be directed to report back to Council in one year from the opening of the temporary location regarding the use of this site.
The temporary off-leash dog park is now open at Dale Meadows Sports Complex (10502 Dale Meadows Road) from dawn to dusk. Please provide any feedback on this dog park to recreation@summerland.ca
Staff will be reviewing the viability of a large off-leash dog park at the Summerland Rodeo Grounds in 2022 as part of the Master Planning process of that property.
The Parks Regulation Bylaw 95-013 is currently under review. Updates are being considered to increase permitted access to dogs in parks throughout Summerland.
