On March 23rd at 12PM PST, CleanBC: BetterHomes hosted a webinar in collaboration with the City of Penticton, RDOS, and the District of Summerland. CleanBC Better Homes offers homeowners rebates that can be obtained either through a group rebate program (electric heat pumps), or through individual home renovations, upgrades or retrofits.
The webinar provided information about CleanBC's heat pump rebate program, and an opportunity to take advantage of a group rebate to maximize available savings. These upgrades or retrofits can contribute to greater efficiency of your homes heating and cooling systems, which can provide greater indoor comfort, and reduced energy bills. Further, by switching to electric systems (ie heat pumps) that use renewable electricity, fossil fuel emissions are reduced, which are the main causes for global climatic changes we see today.

On November 21, 2018, The District of Summerland hosted a free hands-on Solar Energy & Energy Conservation Workshop with industry experts covering:
• Easy and low-cost ways to make your home more comfortable and start saving energy immediately
• How to decide if a solar energy system is cost-effective for your home
• Where to get rebates and free advice for energy improvements

Certified Energy Advisors, Total Home Solutions, explained where common sources of air leakage are in a home and how homeowners could seal the leaks themselves using easy-to-do techniques. They also provided a step-by-step guide to eliminating drafts in a home (linked below), and allowed participants the opportunity to try out some of the techniques themselves.
