  2. Business Arising from the Minutes
    1. status of Heritage Inventory List (July 15 2009)
    2. draft Cariboo Gold Rush Sign (some changes proposed)
    3. status of Commission letter to Council about placement of

heritage monument in Lowertown park without Commission input

3          New Business

a.       As per Section 8 of the Terms of Reference: “Commission shall chose” a

Chairperson and Vice Chairperson at the first meeting each year

b.      Provincial Heritage Week: the Provincial theme is “Sports and

Recreation” February 15th-21st

Each year the Commission chooses a Heritage site, Building and sometimes tree. Here are some suggestions:

Site: Rock Bridge crossing Aeneas Creek circa 1826

        Mazama Volcanic Ash in Garnett Valley

        Diacite Columns west Giants Head Mountain

        Barclay Lake, Trout Creek Reservoir

        West Summerland train station site

                                  Ornamental Gardens

         Gartrell homestead site

         Faulder station on KVR

         Storehouse Point (Crescent Beach)

         Anglican Cemetery (St. Peter’s church site)

Building: Sir Edward Clouston House on South Victoria

                                          Faircrest, Bank of Montreal Manager’s House

                                         Atkinson House Canyon View and Hillborn

                                         Steuart House on Quinpool

                                          Blair House and Cannery outbuildings

                          Tree: Chestnut in front of Glenoka B&B, Beggs Street

c.       Brainstorm: Heritage Advisory Commission activities (heritage home

Tours, heritage tours, signage, articles, booklets, handouts) and

Heritage Advisory Commission fund raising activities (revenue from tours, sale of booklets)

d.      Invitation to join Heritage Week display at Cherry Lane. Describe

activities, tours, Summerland books. Cost $50 per booth
