Cycling facilities were constructed this summer along Peach Orchard Rd between Peach Orchard Campground and the Highway 97 underpass. The project was 50% funded by the Ministry of Transportation Cycling Infrastructure Partnership Program. “Cycling is a great option for people who want to stay healthy, save money, and reduce their carbon footprint,” said Premier Campbell.

 A bike lane was created on the north side of Peach Orchard Rd and a shared bicycle/vehicle lane was created on the south side. The project has effectively linked the Downtown core, campground and Lakeshore Road with a safer corridor for cyclists and pedestrians. The project also included electrical upgrades around the campground, soon to be completed utility pole relocations, street lighting, signage and pavement markings. The project was completed on time and under budget.
